Who We Are at Tzaeit

We are a small team of textile enthusiasts working directly with weaving clusters across India. Our focus is on preserving handloom traditions while making them relevant for contemporary homes, one natural-dyed piece at a time.

From a Single Loom to a Curated Collection

Tzaeit began in 2016 with one handloom and a simple belief: that the textiles we live with should carry the warmth of the hands that made them. What started as a small experiment in natural dyeing has grown into a network of weaving clusters across three states, yet every piece still follows the same unhurried process.

2016 - The First Batch

Our founder Nandini Ramkissoon set up a single pit loom in her family home in Marathahalli. The first run was just forty throws, dyed with madder root and indigo. They sold out at a local craft fair in ten days, and the waiting list convinced us to keep going.

2018 - Partnering with Weaving Clusters

We formalised ties with two small clusters in Rajasthan and one in Andhra Pradesh. Instead of buying surplus stock, we began commissioning dedicated runs. This let us control dye lots, yarn quality, and finishing from the very first skein.

2020 - Organic Cotton Bedding Line

After two years of trials with certified organic cotton farms, we launched our bedding range. The key decision was to skip chemical softeners and rely on stone washing and natural pumice. The result was a fabric that softened with every wash rather than wearing thin.

2022 - Block Print Studio Opens

We opened a small block print studio in Jaipur with four carvers and six printers. Every block is carved by hand from seasoned teak, and each colour is mixed fresh from plant sources. This studio now produces all our cushion covers and table runners.

2024 - Low-Impact Finishing Standard

We published our finishing standard, which bans chlorine bleaching, synthetic softeners, and resin finishes across all products. The change reduced water usage per piece by nearly a third and gave our fabrics a more honest, textured hand feel.

2025 - The Collection Today

Today Tzaeit works with eleven partner clusters and a permanent team of forty-seven artisans. Our range covers throws, bedding, cushion covers, and table linen, all in terracotta, indigo, and unbleached ivory. The waiting list for custom weaves is now four months long.
